Competition Proposal

The church is a wood construction, inspired by the shapes of boats and waves, and thus con­necting to the local context of maritime traditions. 44 identical cross-laminated-timber elements are prefabricated and cnc-milled with grooves to fit seamlessly along the curved walls. An exterior without backside is formed whereas the interior space becomes a singu­lar calm space where movement, direction and still­ness work together.
High placed windows along the walls allow a shifting light to reach the interi­or space. Close to the altar three of the wall panels are slightly rotated, allowing more daylight to reach the in­terior.

Kyrkan är en träbyggnad, inspirerad av formen på båtar och vågor, som knyter an till den lokala maritima kontexten i Nordhavn. Med en konstruktion bestående av 44 identiska och förtillverkade väggelement av KL-trä formas en exteriör utan baksida och ett kyrkorum där rörelse, riktning och stillhet samverkar. Högt placerade fönster ger ett varierande dagsljus till rummet. Nära altaret är tre av väggelementen lätt roterade för att öppna upp för ett flödande dagsljus.
